REHAU RAISES THE STANDARD WITH BIOCOTE TECHNOLOGY
The company’s PROFILA data and COMPACT data cable management ranges now feature BioCote’s unique silver ion technology, which is independently proven to reduce levels of harmful bacteria like MRSA, E.coli and Salmonella on surfaces by up to 99.99%.
Boris Romero, REHAU’S New Product Development Manager, commented: “Over the years, REHAU has built up a reputation in the cable management industry for innovation and quality. This has helped keep us at the forefront in the education, health and commercial sectors, where regulations and Government initiatives like Building Schools for the Future (BSF) and Procure 21 are constantly pushing up standards and encouraging manufacturers to raise their game.
“REHAU has responded to this with a continual programme of product enhancement that is designed to meet changing regulation and to make our systems quicker and easier to install. We believe our partnership with BioCote takes this onto the next level, adding even more value to the service we provide our customers.”
BioCote technology can be adopted at the manufacturing stage, providing built-in protection against harmful microbes for the expected lifetime of the product. Utilising the power of silver ions, the technology binds with the bacteria to disrupt their normal functioning so they are unable to reproduce and die. This dramatically reduces the risk the cross contamination, particularly in environments like hospitals, schools and offices, which can be breeding grounds for deadly bacteria. Protecting against microbial organisms also helps reduce product deterioration, discolouration and bad odours.
Graham Harvey, Commercial Director at BioCote, said: “Hygiene is currently at the top of the news agenda, particularly in healthcare environments and the education sector. This is led to increasing demand from specifiers for safe and hygienic solutions.
“At BioCote, we are encouraging any company that supplies products to these industries to think seriously about incorporating our technology into their products at the manufacturing stage. We believe this will give them a huge advantage in what is a massively competitive marketplace.
Concluded Romero: “REHAU is a forward thinking business that has recognised the benefits BioCote can bring and we are delighted to be working with them. We have a successful track record in the health and education sectors with large scale contracts at many BSF projects and the Barts and London hospitals, which is currently the largest hospital development project in the UK.”
