PLAND STAINLESS TACKLE CANAL WALK FOR NSPCC

Members of staff from Pland Stainless recently swapped their work clothes for sturdy walking boots, as they embarked on a 16 mile trek to raise over £1100 for NSPCC.

The challenge started from the picturesque setting of the Five Rise Locks on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Bingley, and finished back at the Pland Stainless premises on the Lower Wortley Ring Road, Leeds.

Each year Pland Stainless undertakes a charity activity as part of giving something back to the community. The company is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of quality stainless steel bowls, sinks, basins and other equipment for washroom, healthcare, veterinary and janitorial uses.

NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) was chosen as the nominated charity following feedback from staff. The company selects a different charity each year.

Steve Duree, Commercial Director at Pland Stainless and who took part in the walk, explains: “Each year we choose a charity to raise funds for and this year we picked the NSPCC. Although we have undertaken a variety of fund raising activities in the past, this is the first time we have done a sponsored walk. There were a few sore feet at the end of the day but everyone enjoyed themselves and we are delighted to have raised over £1100 for the NSPCC.”

The donation will go towards helping the NSPCC continue their work in keeping children safe from harm.

Liz Barran, NSPCC Corporate Manager for Yorkshire said: “I would like to thank the team at Pland Stainless for helping raise money for the NSPCC. The donation is greatly received and will go on to help children right across the country that so desperately need our help.”

Pland Stainless has been manufacturing quality stainless steel sanitaryware, washroom equipment and associated products in Leeds since being formed in 1919.
