Pop up on those new handrails

Pop-Up Products, market leaders in the low-level push around scissor lift market, has unveiled its new innovative - confined space handrail developed in conjunction with major contractors Balfour Beatty and Skanska.

Designed to fit directly onto the Pop-Up and Pop-Up+ without modification, the confined space handrail provides the perfect solution for accessing those hard to reach areas, such as ceiling voids. Situations in which a standard handrail would restrict access and contractors may previously have used stepladders, ladders or combination ladders to overreach can now be eliminated.

The bespoke confined space handrail provides the operator with a safe and secure platform to offer maximum safety, when working at height. It also offers contractors added safety due to the inclusion of a quality self-closing spring loaded gate.

It has been reduced in size, to allow the cage and a single operator to access a void above a ceiling through a standard 580mm x 580mm ceiling grid, while still providing ample working space.

Nick Wing, Project Health & Safety Manager, Skanska stated: The Pop-Up and confined space handrail provide a massive boost in terms of access to awkward spaces. To avoid using ladders for situations such as this we now have the handrails which enable us to fit through ceiling grids and hard to reach areas carefully and safely.”

The Pop-Up range has undergone rigorous type testing and assessment by one of the leading UK organisations specialising in powered access certification. Lifting Equipment Technology Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary within the PAC Group, has ensured that the product complies with the requirements of EN 280 and the European Machinery Directive. The assessment process includes a full examination of the Technical File, a physical inspection of the machine and also stability, overload and functional testing.

The Pop-Up range offers the ideal answer for indoor access requirements; it fits easily into a standard lift and means that even a single operative on site can work safely alone in a low-level access environment.

The Pop-Up concept has been specifically designed to make low-level access work quicker, easier and safer and, with the launch of Pop-Up+ , contractors will find it easier than ever before to get the job done whilst complying with HSE guidelines.
