ROOFCO HANDRAIL GETS TOP MARKS FROM COLLEGE

Sheffield-based Roofco Safety Solutions is quite literally top of the class after more than half a mile of its freestanding handrail system was installed at a new further education college.

Almost 900 metres of Roofco’s Rhinorail has been used to provide a safe working environment on the flat roofed areas of Gateway College’s brand new building in Leicester.

The Rhinorail system was installed on a single ply rubber roofing membrane at the new Gateway College site in Hamilton by roofing contractors, DSM Structures. The work was undertaken during the last six months of the £33 million build. Roofco has worked with DSM on a number of projects, but this is by far the largest order placed by the firm so far.

The versatile freestanding handrail can be tailored specifically to each application and is compatible with most flat roofs. It sits on the surface, held in place with a series of counterbalanced weights, to provide a safe working environment without causing any damage or disruption.

Richard Beckett, Roofco’s managing director, said: “The new Gateway College is a very contemporary construction with several flat roofed areas requiring protection. DSM chose Rhinorail because it is easy and quick to install, which is essential on a project of this size, yet it still provides unparalleled levels of protection, ensuring maintenance work on the roof surface and the equipment located on it can be undertaken safely throughout the building’s lifetime.”

Rhinorail is available with a choice of three fixings – freestanding, top fix or parapet – which can be used independently or combined. For further information, contact Roofco on (0114) 243 6001 or visit www.roofco.co.uk
