Konecranes Introduces the wXN Electric Chain Hoist for Wind Turbine Applications
Konecranes, a global leader in the manufacturing of overhead lifting equipment for wind turbine applications, offers specialised products and services. The wXN Electric Chain Hoist from Konecranes meets the needs of wind turbine applications with an innovative design that offers a variety of benefits.
The wind power industry demands very strict operation requirements due to the unique environment in which the equipment must function. The wXN Electric Chain Hoist addresses these requirements with its compact, cost-effective, and versatile design. With standard lifting capacities from 160 kg to 1,000 kg, and optional higher capacities, the wXN offers a lifting speed up to 32 m/min. The wXN offers performance-enhancing features such as a standard upper and lower limit switch, two-speed hoisting, epoxy-painted protection, and efficient heat dissipation through its ribbed design.
The wXN compact hoist body is constructed from pressure-cast aluminium for optimal and critical weight reduction. The electric control panel encloses all the electrical componentsproviding easy access for maintenance. Heat-treated and high-precision lubricated gears ensure quiet operation.
The wXN is a well-balanced hoist, with the weight of the chain being supported by the trolley. With stabilised control of the hoist chain, even long chains can be operated very smoothly. The metal chain guide and high-quality chain bag add to the lifetime of the wXN and its components.
Operational efficiency is achieved through the friction torque limiter which prevents overloading, accidental over-hoisting, and over-lowering. The five-pocket chain wheels are heat-treated and ground to ensure smooth lifting. Additionally, upper and lower electric limit switches and electromagnetic disc brakes facilitate safe and effective load handling and simple maintenance.
The wXN ensures operational safety by allowing for service to occur within the nacelle. For additional operational safety, motors are equipped with standard low voltage control. The wXN can also be customised to fit the restrictions of particular applications, offering remote control operation, extra load limit switches, hour counters, and protection above the standard IP55 class.
Konecranes offers high-performance lifting equipment and a world-class global service network to wind turbine manufacturers throughout the world in all major market areas.
